  • 1947: Is born in Thal to Gustav and Aurelia Schwarzenegger
  • 1960: Begins weight training when his football coach takes his team to a local gym
  • 1961: Chooses bodybuilding over football as a career
  • 1963: Officially starts his competitive bodybuilding career
  • 1965: Serves in the Austrian Army for a year, which was mandatory at the time for 18 year-old males
  • 1967: Wins his first amateur Mr. Universe bodybuilding competition
  • Feb. 1970: Has his first acting role in the movie Hercules in New York
  • Sep. 1970: wins his first Mr. Olympia bodybuilding competition at 23, making him the youngest ever Mr. Olympia to this day
  • 1971: Meinhard Schwarznegger, Arnold's brother, dies in a car crash while driving drunk
  • 1972: Gustav Schwarzenegger, Arnold's father, dies of a stroke
  • 1980: Arnold strikes it big, starring in Conan the Barbarian
  • 1984: Makes his first appearance as The Terminator
  • 2003: Is elected the governor of California, winning the election by 1.3m votes
